It’s when I lose that I found the way to succeed. Years ago, my father and I had everything planned from my first year in college until I became a Certified Public Accountant but all of it crumbled down when he died on August 2012 when I was still in my first year college. I lost my number one supporter and my family, and having three siblings who were also studying, we faced a financial crisis.

That year was so hard but I have always loved studying and it was never my mother’s choice to make us stop so she worked hard as a factory worker but it was never enough. That was why I took it to myself to study hard to have scholarship grants so that I could help my mother even a bit and by the grace of the Lord I became an AMY Scholar.

For almost five years, 9 semesters to be exact, AMY Foundation paid for my tuition fee and cover some of the expenses for my books. I did take a tough course but the thought of not having to think where to find money for my tuition fee really eased the burden. I concentrated on pursuing my dream not just to help my family but also to show my gratitude for this foundation in the way that I could.

And as a proof of the saying that “hard work pays off” I graduated as a Cum Laude and took an oath as a newly passed Certified Public Accountant. All of this was made possible by this Foundation. Words are never enough to show how thankful I am, so instead, I promised to pay the blessing I received forward, to help another youth who is a victim of unpleasant circumstances to achieve his dreams through studying.

Let us all keep the vision of this foundation burning.

Joyce Ann De Jesus, CPA

AMY Scholar Graduate, Cum Laude, 2017

“And as a proof of the saying that “hard work pays off” I graduated as a Cum Laude and took an oath as a newly passed Certified Public Accountant.
