(From L-R: AMY Foundation Executive Director Alice P. Rodil, PBB President & CEO Rolando R. Avante, DepEd Secretary Bro. Armin A. Luistro FSC, DepEd Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs Atty. Tonisito Umali)

Since AMY Foundation, the CSR Unit of Philippine Business Bank (PBB) is very much in support to EDUCATION, the management of PBB decided to donate P1,000,000 to the Department of Education (DepEd) thru the office of Secretary Bro. Armin A. Luistro.

The amount was raised due to the concerted efforts from the management, officers and staff of the Bank. A part from the Christmas Party Fund which was intended for the raffle prizes for the Bank’s Christmas Party was initially donated while officers and staff also contribute cash, matched by the Bank to come up with a total of Php1.0M donation.

PBB President Rolando R. Avante and AMY Foundation Executive Director Alice P. Rodil were both present during the turnover ceremony on January 22, 2013 held at the DepEd Office of the Secretary. It was agreed upon that said donation will be used to construct a classroom for the benefit of three hundred six (306) students at Sangab Elementary School located in Davao Oriental, one of the provinces affected by the wrath of Typhoon Pablo. A portion of the amount will also be allotted to start a feeding program which will also be based in the said school.

“The darkest nights produce the brightest stars”

I value education so much. I asked myself if I could really go to college since my father (Carlos Lacanlale) is a construction worker and my mother (Dolly Lacanlale) is a housewife only. My dream was made possible because of Alfredo M. Yao (AMY) Foundation partnered with my determination and hard work. The foundation is not just a simple program that helps those students who are willing to study but a sunlight that beams to those flowers (students) who are about to wither (lose hope).
